The Education Events scheduled for the 60th National Square Dance Convention® will give you an opportunity to increase your knowledge base relative to the activity we all enjoy.  Between the Seminars, Panels, Club Leadership Program, Clinics, and Sew & Save events along with the Keynote Speech, Publications & Program Book display, Bid Session, Showcase of Ideas, and Organizations Round Table, there will be something of interest to everyone. 

 

Seminars: Thirty-three seminars are currently scheduled.  They will start at 9 a.m. Thursday and end at 5 p.m.  On Friday, they start at 1 p.m. and end at 5 p.m.  This will allow you to attend the Bid Session and Keynote speech.  On Saturday, seminars will start at 10 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.

 

Panels: Twenty panel discussions are currently scheduled.  They will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday and end at 4 p.m.  On Friday and Saturday, they start at 1:30 p.m. and end at 4 p.m.

 

Club Leadership Program: This program will enable you to receive recognition by attending four identified panels or seminars, the keynote speech and two elective seminars or panels.  Your recognition will be a certificate of completion and a dangle for your badge.

 

Clinics: We have scheduled a large variety of dance activities in the Education Clinic room.  In addition, there will be an opportunity for you to experience what the next level of square dancing has to offer as “Introductory” sessions in the respective dance hall.  The Contra, Clogging and Country Western halls will also offer “Introductory” sessions in their respective halls.

 

Sew & Save: There are thirteen combination demonstration and make & take events scheduled.  These will start at 10 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  The workroom will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday.  It will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.  The drawing for prizes will start at 3 p.m. on Saturday, with all prizes to be picked up by 5 p.m. Saturday.

 

Keynote Speech: Ken Ritucci will deliver the Keynote address at 11 a.m. on Friday.  His focus will be on  “Addressing Challenging Changes Through Great Education”.

 

Publications & Program Book Display: The publications sent to us by the various local areas will be on display along with the Lee Long collection of convention program books.  Please stop and browse through this display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

 

Bid Session: The Bid Session will start at 9 a.m. Friday.  As of now, there are two cities-Kansas City, Missouri and Springfield, Massachusetts bidding for the 64th National Square Dance Convention® in 2015.

 

Showcase of Ideas: Stop by Wayne Hall and browse the numerous organizations that will be displaying their ideas related to promoting our dance activity.  The Showcase of Ideas will be available to you from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.  It will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday, but close at 2 p.m.  All displays are to stay intact until 2 p.m.

 

Organizations Round Table: This event will start at 9 a.m. Saturday and is scheduled to end at 11 a.m.  Participants will include two previous NSDC convention chairs, USDA, ARTS-Dance, and CALLERLAB.  It will be moderated by the chairman of the 60th NSDC.  This discussion will focus on how the various representatives view the changes that are facing our dance activity.
