NATIONAL SQUARE AND ROUND DANCE CONVENTION

HERE ARE THE EXCITING TOURS OFFERED AT THE 2011 NATIONAL CONVENTION HELD IN DETROIT FROM MONDAY, JUNE 20, 2011 TO SATURDAY, JUNE 25, 2011. SIGNING ON FOR THE TOURS ARE TO BE DONE WHEN YOU REGISTER FOR THE CONVENTION AT  A  PER PERSON COST.

 

FULL   TWO DAY TOURS OFFERED BEFORE WEDNESDAY JUNE 22ND

1.     Two day Mackinac Island Tour includes an overnight stay on the island ($360) -  The bus trip  from Detroit to main land Mackinac City. The Island Ferry will take passengers to the island the Victorian style Village on Mackinac Island reminiscent of the early 1800s. Transportation is limited to horse and buggy, bicycle or foot travel.

2.      Two day Toronto/ Niagara Falls Tour includes an over night stay in Toronto (tbd) – This bus tour will include land mark sites such as historical landmarks, the CN tour, and the Toronto Islands. The guided tour also takes you into various ethnic communities. Returning to Detroit includes a stop in scenic Niagara Falls.  A passport is required to enter and leave Canada.

3.     One day tour to Frankenmuth& Christmas Wonderland ($76) – On this full day tour you will enjoy the Bavarian hospitality of food, culture and festivities that exist all year round. The day includes  a visit to Bonner’s Christmas Wonderland, a chicken lunch at Zhenders, visits  to the Leelanau Winery  and

    Frankenmuth Brewery.

 

HALF DAY TOURS IN AND AROUND DETROIT OFFERED DURING CONVENTION TIME

Art and History Detroit Style ($ 40)

The newly renovate Detroit Institute of Arts is heralded throughout the world as one of the premier venues in the cultural world – Renoir, Van Gogh, Picasso!The Detroit Historical Museum captures the History of Detroit as the American Auto Capital.  

Motown  - Detroit City tour ( $ 43)

This guided tour includes seeing the business, sport, historical and cultural centers of the city. Architectural history, urban parks, museums, theater districts, universities and unique neighborhoods will be featured.  A stop and visit into the Motown “Hitsville” Museum will be a true highlight of the tour.

Ford Field tour ( $31)

The tour of the Detroit Lions Arena of NFL football play includes walking through the locker room, a walk through the tunnel on to the playing field, and stadium suites. Ford Field hosted Super Bowl XL, the 2009 NCAA Men’s Basketball final Four. It is truly and architectural innovation to enjoy.

Ford Rouge Factory ($40)

This tour is a five-part experience that includes the triumphs and set backs surrounding the plant.  A 360 degree theater will enlighten its audience to up close sensory experience as to how the F-150 is assembled. A guided walk through designated and safe areas will be its feature.

Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village  ($63) 

The famous Henry Ford Museum chronicles the American automotive history of cars. See the Rosa Parks Bus and JF Kennedy’s Presidential Limousine. Greenfield Village hosts a time travel of our great nation starting with how settlers lived and landmark inventions leading to the modern day conveniences of today.

Windsor Canada/Canadian Club Tour  ($45)

A passport is required on this guided bus tour of the Windsor, Ontario - the city across the river facing Detroit. The tour features the Dieppe Gardens, Odette Sculpture Park Coventry gardens and downtown touring. The tour also includes a stop at the Canadian Club Brand Center home of Canadian Club Whiskey. 

Shopping at the Somerset Collection ($28)

The Somerset Collection is the epicenter for luxury retail  in Michigan; featuring stores such as Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffany and Company and Burberry. The Center has a glass enclosed moving walkway that links Somerset North and Somerset South - A shopper’s experience!

Chrysler Museum Tour ($45)

The Walter P. Chrysler Museum contains production and concept vehicles showcasing its automotive heritage. Visitors will experience 63 restored vehicles including muscle cars of the 50’s and  60's, and its Technical Center.  A 123-seat theater will feature the history of the life and times of Walter P. Chrysler.  A box lunch will be included.
